The gap

Why does Efficiently Analytics exist?

Because good data people are rare, and most of them work for large companies. Small and mid-sized businesses have the same questions and plenty of data, but no one to turn it into answers.

A small business can create thousands of data points every day, and almost none of them reach a decision. Efficiently Analytics brings that work to you as fixed-price projects, with MyDataAnalyst for ongoing help.

Track record

Where has this work been done before?

  1. Reporting Automation at a Fortune 100 telecommunications company

Each product had its own Excel report, and each update took hours of manual work. Replaced each one with a script that produced the finished report in seconds. Promoted to build the same for other teams.

  2. Performance management programs for local governments

First analyst on both programs. Grew each from a basic setup into a full performance management program: KPIs set with department heads and the mayoral administration, detailed data tracked for every city department, and operating views that showed progress toward the administration’s goals.

  3. Analytics support at a Fortune 500 insurance company

Dedicated analyst for one business segment. Answered data questions from rate increases to contract and coverage details, ran ad hoc analyses, kept reports current and priced large accounts.

  4. Data integration at a nonprofit organization

Mapped a new data format to the nonprofit’s data specification, so new partners using it could skip months of data integration conversations and work. Set up data transfers with partners’ IT teams and reviewed each month’s data against the specification for errors. The data supported type 1 diabetes quality improvement work and research.

  5. Teaching data science at Syracuse University

Two years as an adjunct professor, teaching graduate courses in data science and data mining. Students learned to program, build predictive models and write analytical reports.

Reporting Automation · Telecommunications
Hours → seconds
Report turnaround, before and after
The offerReporting AutomationFrom $2k · 3–6 weeks

Product reports at a Fortune 100 telecom took hours to update by hand.

Problem

Each product had its own Excel report. Updating one meant exporting the data, pasting it in, stretching formula ranges by hand, checking for errors, updating tables, and copying between sheets. It took hours every time.

What was done

Each report got its own script that pulled the data, ran the checks and exported the finished report as a PDF.

Result

Hours of manual work became one click and about ten seconds. The same approach was then built for other teams.

Performance management programs for local governments
The offerOperations DashboardFrom $3k · 4–8 weeks

City leaders were making decisions on instinct, with no data behind them.

Problem

Almost no decision had data behind it. No one was tracking how departments were performing or whether the administration’s goals were being met.

What was done

Came in as the first analyst on both programs and expanded each into a full performance management program: KPIs set with department heads and the mayoral administration, the data behind each one hunted down, and detailed data tracked for every city department.

Result

Leadership could see up-to-date numbers for every department and track progress toward the administration’s goals.

Time to map a new partner’s data, before and after
The offerCustom SolutionsFrom $6k · 2–20 weeks

Every new clinical partner meant months of data mapping.

Problem

A nonprofit brought in data from clinical partners for type 1 diabetes quality improvement work and research. Each new partner’s data had to be mapped to the nonprofit’s data specification requirements, which took months of conversations and work.

What was done

Mapped a data format many health systems share to the nonprofit’s data specification requirements, so any partner using it could start from that mapping. Set up data transfers with partners’ IT teams and reviewed each month’s data against the specification for errors.

Result

Mapping a new partner that uses the format dropped from months to days.

How we work

What can you count on?

Five rules, on every project.

FIXED PRICE, BEFORE WE START

Scope and price are agreed in writing before any work starts. If something changes, we agree a new scope before any extra work.

YOURS TO KEEP

What we build for you is yours once it’s paid for. The tools underneath come with a permanent license to use and change them. Nothing depends on us staying.

SOMETHING WORKING EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS

On longer projects you review working software as it takes shape, not slides. Changing direction stays cheap.

WE’LL TELL YOU IF YOU DON’T NEED US

You get our recommendation on the first call, even when it isn’t us.

KEEPING US ON IS OPTIONAL

Nothing we build needs us to keep working. If you want someone to call when something stops working, MyDataAnalyst starts at $500 a month. If you don’t, you leave with everything and no ongoing fee.

The same work, for your business.

Twenty minutes, no pitch.
